Jeri Lipov

Jeri Lipov’s art enables her to be a storyteller.  Through her paintings and photographs, she constructs stories, as simple as a branch of sparkling autumn leaves or as complicated as making a statement about the changing environment.

Jeri grew up in Texas and even as a child she was entranced by the natural beauty she found there – startling bluebonnets, fierce horned toads, and puffy white clouds in the expansive blue sky.  Jeri’s motto should be “God is in the details.”  She loves to draw intricate leaves and feathers, stones, wooden slats, and architectural details.  Along the shore, where colors are unusually intense and wildlife is abundant, she learned to carry her camera at all times.

Jeri took up drawing and photography at around the age of 10 but it wasn’t until later in life that she found time to develop her talent.  In 1990, she took her first watercolor classes at the Columbia Visual Arts Center in Columbia, Maryland, with Dr. Morris E. Green.  Due to the demands of work and family, she had to give it up.  Then, in 2003, Jeri began working with Don Griswold in the Ocean City, Maryland, area.  Under Don’s guidance, Jeri developed her own mixed media watercolor-and-pen-and-ink style, along with an occasional work in acrylics, pastels and watercolor pencils.  She has also taken short watermedia workshops in Florida, North Carolina and Maryland.

Jeri has had numerous solo exhibits, including one at the Baltimore Hebrew Congregation in December 2010.  In addition, her work has been exhibited at

Her work has been awarded several prizes and some have been selected for the annual national competition at the Art Institute and Gallery in 2007, 2008, and again in 2010.  Her paintings are in private collections throughout the United States.  She opened a public studio, Barefoot Arts Studio in Berlin Maryland, with another artist in the fall of 2010.
